Michael David Winery – Lodi

Today we were on our way back home from Sonora and stopped at Michael David Winery in Lodi and I am very glad we did.

It was a very hot day and we were traveling with our dogs Suzie Q and Baby Betty so we wanted to make sure we could taste in a shady area. They did better than that. They had an indoor tasting room that was dog friendly! It was a very nice air conditioned room apart from the main room.

We were greeted by our server which happened to be a lead person, Marissa Kirwan. She was the nicest young woman. Very friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us lots of info and took us out back to the vats to take our picture.

We had the $10 Current Release Tasting and the $15 Limited Release Menu. Each paid tasting includes a keepsake Michael David Winery stemless glass to take home. She let us try a few things not on the menu which I always enjoy.

The main tasting room has a little market with a seasonal selection of produce grown onsite or locally in Lodi and a cafe for breakfast and lunch. The meat is sourced from their local 4H program and they have amazing signature pies.

The grounds were beautiful with some water features, pond, fountain and waterfall but it was too hot for me to be out there today and there is a bistro with wood fired pizzas, paninis, salads and sandwiches. I couldn’t get any pictures of that because the sign said – no dogs allowed. There was a shaded area that we could enjoy if we wanted to get food from the market and eat outside.

I would give this tasting an A+ because of how nice Marissa was, it was dog friendly, it had different options for food, the price to taste and the wine prices were affordable and the ground were very nice.
